To watch the sunrise or sunset on Mount Everest is a humbling experience.

It should be on everyone’s 'bucket list’.  The Scranton Kid, USA

Gokyo Trek

Everest Base Camp Trek or Photo Tour

View of Ama Dablam through the clouds Panoramic view of Cho Oyo on the Gokyo trek A panoramic view of Mount Everest

This is a moderate trek which allows you time to savour the fantastic scenery of this area as well as serving as an introduction to the customs and culture of the local people. As such this trek is ideally suited to trekkers who have never been to this region before or who are on a tight time budget.

This is a 12 day trek which avoids the more crowded Everest Base Camp route. In addition, the view from Gokyo Ri is as spectacular as that from Kala Pattar but the village of Gokyo itself is so much more beautiful than Gorak Shep. Gokyo is truly stunning with its emerald green lakes and herds of yaks wandering freely.

This classic trek follows in the footsteps of many Everest summiteers. It is the most popular trek in the Solu Khumbu: a wonderful combination of stunning views and an insight into a fascinating culture.  It is also a tough physical challenge which serves to heighten your appreciation of the local people.
